Coterie

I went over to the Javits Center the other day to wander around Fashion Coterie. Since Le Loup-Garou is such a young'n, it was my first time attending this sort of trade show. Here's how they describe it on their Twitter:

1,300+ high end collections presenting their lines to an international who's who of retailers, including US/International majors, boutique/specialty stores.

Here's how I describe it: a context in which I am a short, chubby, nerdy chick (these are the "who's who" of fashunz, you remember)...and I have a rad time at it.

In the span of about three hours, I saw just about every single booth. It became dizzying. Totally overwhelming, especially for someone who had never been before. Also, as a buyer for a very small niche online retailer which focuses on emerging designers, a lot of it could probably be considered superfluous stimuli. But still so totally worth it.

Of labels sold through Le Loup-Garou, Dear Creatures and Something Else were represented at Coterie, and it was lovely to see their new lines in person. Dear Creatures in particular has some sort of mystical stronghold on me.

But. The best thing by far to come out of attending Coterie was discovery of the new labels that you will hopefully see sometime soon in the shop.
